He was a native of Palatka and recently returned to Putnam County, moving here from St. Augustine, where he resided for 20 years. He was a carpenter and a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. He was also an avid Gator fan and a member of the American Legion.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Gloria Whitehead Hawkins, and a brother, Jon Ethan Hawkins.
He is survived by his wife, Flora Hawkins of Satsuma; his father and stepmother, C. D. and Beverly Hawkins of Pensacola; his maternal grandmother, Maureen Rhodes of Foley, Ala.; three brothers, Matt Hawkins and Jacob Daniel Hawkins, both of Pensacola, and Dustin Shane Williams of Fort Bragg, N.C.; two sisters, Debra Jane Leonardy of Vista, Calif., and Elisa Ilene Hawkins of Mobile, Ala.; two uncles and aunt, Roy and Diane Hawkins of San Mateo and Edward M. Hawkins of Flagler Beach, and several cousins.
Funeral services will be Saturday, Nov. 18, at Johnson-Overturf Funeral Home in Palatka with Bishop Austin Tilton presiding. Burial will follow in San Mateo Cemetery. (Palatka Daily News Obituary dtd 17 Nov 2006.)
