Robert C. HARDIE, Laundry Owner, Dies in Hospital

Robert C. HARDIE, 84, of 302 Elm, an Abilene pioneer and laundry owner, died at 9:50 p.m. Tuesday at Hendrick Memorial Hospital after becoming ill at his home. Funeral arrangements are pending at North's Funeral Home.

Born Nov. 7, 1888, in Mississippi he had lived in Abilene for about 80 years. His father was an early groceryman in Abilene. He married Fleeta RISTER on May 28, 1928, in Abilene. He worked for Butler Lumber Co., and started the Hardy Home Laundry during World War II. He retired about 1950. He was a member of First Central Presbyterian Church.

Survivors include his wife; one stepdaughter, Mrs. Lettie BROWN of 1417 Hope; three grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Lockert SLEEPER of Waco; two nephews.
