The body of Pvt. Harrison G. Rodeheaver, 25, son of Mrs. Alberta Rodeheaver, Catherine Street, and the late Joseph E. Rodeheaver, who was killed in Italy December 6, 1943, arrived here this morning, and was taken to the Pike-Watson Funeral Home. Reburial services will be conducted Sunday at 2:30 p. m. in Christ Methodist Church by Rev. Reese Burns, pastor. Military honors at the grave in Red Rock Cemetery will be accorded by George D. Jackson Post No. 56, American Legion, Preston County.
A lifelong resident of this community, Pvt. Rodeheaver was born March 28, 1918. He entered the Army June 18, 1941, and received training at Fort Knox, Ky., Camp Cook, Calif., Camp Forest, Tenn., and Pine Camp, N.Y., before going overseas to Italy, in November, 1943. Pvt. Rodeheaver, who participated in two major battles, served with the First Special Service Force, First Regiment.
Besides his mother, he is survived by three brothers, Charles Rodeheaver, Dawson, Md., and Franklin and Douglas Rodeheaver, Rowlesburg, and five sisters, Mrs. Effie, Sanders, Sabraton; Mrs. Edna Winters, Terra Alta; Mrs. Clarise Case, Rowlesburg; Mrs. Catherine Stevenson, Fellowsville; and Miss Della Mae Rodeheaver, Rowlesburg.

In July 2013, the Congressional Gold Medal was awarded, collectively, to the First Special Service Force (FSSF) in recognition of its superior service during World War II. On February 3, 2015 surviving FSSF Veterans were in Washington DC to accept this momentous recognition on behalf of their fellow Forcemen who could not be there.
