March 26, 1922 - Feb. 23, 2009
LAKEVILLE - Letha May Burger, 86, of Lakeville, passed away at 12:45 p.m. on
Monday, February 23, 2009, in the Sanctuary at St. Joseph, South Bend. Mrs. Burger
was born on March 26, 1922, in Mishawaka, to the late James Marshall and Esther
(Gillis) Kirkley. She had been a lifelong area resident. On July 1, 1950, in South Bend,
she married Richard Franklin Burger, who preceded her in death on November 23,
1996. One daughter, Marilyn Burger, and one sister, Effie Fisher, also preceded her i n
death. Mrs. Burger is survived by four daughters, Karen (Kenneth) Sikorski of South
Bend, Kathleen (Rich) Wise of Lakeville, Norma (Robert) Bevilhymer of Osceola and
Priscilla Mudrovich of South Bend; two sons, James Burger of South Bend and Donald
(Vicki) Burger of South Bend; 18 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren; and a
sister, Naomi Beard of Elkhart. Mrs. Burger was a homemaker and a member of the
County Line Brethren Church, Lakeville. She was also a member of the Order of the
Eastern Star, Lakeville Chapter 479. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on
Thursday, February 26, 2009, in the County Line Brethren Church, 69988 U.S. 31 S.,
Lakeville. Rev. Steve Barber will officiate. Graveside services and burial will follow at
Fair Cemetery, North Liberty. Friends may visit with the family from 4-8 p.m. today,
Feb. 25th, in the Palmer Funeral Home, Lakeville, where an Eastern Star service will
be held at 7:00 p.m. Friends may also visit with the family one hour prior to service s
in the church on Thursday. Contributions in memory of Letha M. Burger may be made
to the County Line Brethren Church Youth Fund, 69988 U.S. 31 S., Lakeville, IN
46536; or to The Center for Hospice and Palliative Care, 111 Sunnybrook Court, South
