Horace Haywood Martin died on October 4, 1862 in Marine Hospital in New Orleans, LA fromphthisis pulmonalis (tuberulosis). He was born on November 18, 1839 in Springfield, VT; the son of Dexter and Charlotte (Lee) Martin.

He was a member of Company G, 7th Regiment Vermont Volunteers.

He was preceded in death by Lucy Jane and Collins in 1843.

He is survived by his parents and siblings Emma Jane, Frank Dexter, Gratia Philena, Frederic, John Henry, Lucy Ann, and Ella Maria.

He is buried in Chalmette Battlefield & National Cemetery in Chalmette, LA.
