IN NEW GUINEA DIES IN ACTION - Mr. and Mrs. T. H. Clayton of Fairmont, SC, have been notified by the war department that one of their two sons, stationed in New Guinea has been killed in action. The message stated that Staff Sergeant Fred A. Clayton, an aerial gunner, was killed in action, on May 21, 1944. He had been stationed in New Guinea since last December. He is survived by his parents, his brother, Sergeant Clifford T. Clayton, stationed in New Guinea, another brother Harry Clayton of Fairmont, SC and the following sisters, Mrs. Mary Carroll of Franklin, Indiana, Ruby Clayton, Mrs. Elaine Ray and Miss Gladys Clayton of Fairmont, SC.
