On Wednesday, May 20th at 11:00 o'clock in the ward chapel funeral services for Mary P Skinner were held with Bp Russell Titensor in charge.
The funeral march was played by Mrs Henry Fluckiger. Prayer were offered by Lee Preston and Emil VonAlmen.
Musical numbers consisted of Trio; "Beautiful Isle" by Lenore Fluckiger, Emily Simpson and Ernest Turner. Solo; "I'll Go Where You want Me To Go Dear Lord" by Emily Simpson, Solo, "Was There ever A Pal Like You?" by Ernest turner, Trio "Sometime We'll Understand" by Lenore Fluckiger,Emily Simpson and Ernest Turner.
Bishop Frank Gardner was the first speaker. He told of his acquaintance with Mary and her mother in far off Africa. They were one of the few Latter-day Saint families in that mission. Bp Gardner said they were real friends and help-mates to the Elders and were devoted converts to their religion said Mrs Peacock (Mary's mother) was one of the most faithful tithe payers he has ever known.
Bp Dana, the second speaker told of his association with the Skinner family paid tribute to the family for their willingness to assist anytime or anyone in trouble or sickness. Said he had never known people who would do more for others in times of sorrow or trouble.
Bishop Titensor, the last speaker told of his close association with Geo and his family, they being his nearest neighbors for several years. He spoke words of consolation to George and his four motherless children. Admonished people to be kind and thoughtful and help them whenever opportunity affords.
The pallbearers were Leland, Cecil, Edward, Howard and Joseph Skinner, Paul Merritt and Zenos Thompson.
The grave was dedicated by Roscoe Titensor.
Mary was laid to rest in the Thayne cemetery beside her daughter Hazel who had preceded her in death.
There was a profusion of beautiful flowers and the chapel was filled to capacity with sorrowful friends and relatives.
