Francis J. Morrison Passes Away
The community was grieved to learn Monday of the death of Francis J. Morrison, of Carter, at the Deaconess hospital at Great Falls, after an illness of several months, death being due to cancer. Mr. Morrison had been in ill health for the past year or more and for a long time had been at the hospital.
He was born in Monroe county, Illinois, on Aug. 25, 1852, and had just passed his 75th birthday. He came to Montana in 1909, taking up a homestead in the Carter country, where he has since resided. In 1916 he quit the farm and engaged in business in Carter, which he conducted until last fall when illness forced him to quit. He was well known to a large number of our readers. He made frequent trips to Fort Benton on business and to visit his son, Roy Morrison. His wife passed away in 1904.
Mr. Morrison leaves five sons and two daughters, Virgil and Charles, of Carter; Roy, of Fort Benton; Price, of Fort Snelling, Minn.; Walter, of Tacoma, Wash.; Mrs. Kelly, St. Paul; and Mrs. Mattley, of Pueblo, Calif. Five brothers and two sisters also survive him. One brother, C. W. Morrison, has resided in Fort Benton for many years.
The funeral services will be held at Carter this afternoon and will be conducted by the Rev. J. A. Martin, of Great Falls, an old friend of the deceased, and interment made in Carter cemetery.
