ASH – D.W. Long Jr., 77, died Thursday, Feb. 5, 2009 at his residence. He was born May 25, 1931, the son of the late Daniel W. Long Sr. and Susan E. Faulk Long. He was a member of New Britton Baptist Church and formerly owned and operated Long's General Store.
Final rites will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 8 at Peacock's Funeral Home Chapel of Whiteville with Rev. Scott Cumbee officiating. Interment will be in the Whiteville Memorial Cemetery..
He is survived by his wife, Lula Mae Long; a son, Donnie R. Long of Ash; a daughter, Karen G. Long of North Myrtle Beach, S.C.; a brother, Clifford Long of Midland, Texas; four sisters, Emma Ward of Whiteville, Dorothy Suggs of Guideway, Mary Cheshire of Chadbourn, Virginia Gore of Shallotte; one grandchild; and one great grandchild.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, Feb. 7 fro 6:30 - 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
