Celeste Taylor, 82, of Las Vegas, passed away, Thursday, Feb. 19, 2009, after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born Jan. 16, 1927, to the late Walter and Mollie Taylor in Manghum, La. She attended schools in Tallulah, La. She moved to Las Vegas in 1955. She is survived by her daughters, Leonette Brown and husband, Fred of New York, and Beverly Jami of Las Vegas; grandchildren, Derrick Hendon of Las Vegas, Dereka Hendon, Monifa and Ashley Brown of New York; great-granddaughters, Taylor Hendon and Janie Chalmers, both of Las Vegas; a special cousin, Luela Fonton of California; nieces and nephews; a host of friends; and her beloved dog, PeeWee. Viewing will take place 1-7 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 25, at Palm Mortuary, 1325 N. Main St. Memorial service will be at 11 a.m., Thursday, Feb. 26, at Power House COGIC, 1216 W. Adams.
