"Cpl. Barr Killed In Holland on Sept. 25.
Cpl. Jay F. Barr, twenty-one, a paratrooper, wounded during the initial landings in France, was killed in action in Holland Sept. 25, the War Department notified his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Roy C. Barr, 505 E. Fulton St.
Cpl. Barr who entered the service in September, 1942, had just returned to combat duty after being confined to a hospital in England to recuperate from his wounds.
He received his training at Fort Benning, Ga., and arrived overseas in August, 1943. He was employed at the RCA paint prior to entering the armed forces.
Besides his parents, he is survived by the following brothers and sisters: June, wife of Nevin Ferich, of Lancaster, and Salome, Robert, Donald, Paul, Richard, Melvin and Glenn, all at home."

Two Lancaster county soldiers were killed in action Tuesday while a third died of natural causes in line of duty, according to reports arriving here from the War Department. Two names also were added to the list of wounded in action.
The casualties:
Cpl. Jay F. Barr, 505 E. Fulton St., previously wounded in France, killed in Holland. . . . . "
The following information is from Steve O, who has requested a photo of the Gravestone - Jay F. Barr was a Corporal with H Co., 506th Parachute Infantry Regiment, 101st Airborn Division. He was killed in the Netherlands on 20 [sic - 25] Sep 1944 during Operation Market Garden. Initially buried at Margraten, The Netherlands, but at the request of his family he was re interred at Lancaster, PA in 1949.
