Ray Lloyd was born near Mill Creek, Randolph County, W.V., April 27, 1914. He graduated from high school at age seventeen and after 12 months of teacher training, he started teaching a one room school in 1932.
After teaching 8 years he married Lenora M. Daft and is the father of three sons and one daughter. He has 10 grandchildren & 16 great-grand children. Ray taught 52 years- retiring in 1984.
Through the teaching years he wrote one-hundred fifty poems which are written in the book, "Poems of the Appalachians and other Verse".
Becoming a Christian at age 13. he wrote many religious poems reflecting his faith and trust in God.
He also enjoyed playing the harmonica and guitar simultaneously at school, church, etc.
