Rev. George W. Barlow, D.D. obituary shows that he died from pneumonia at his home in Detroit on January 24, 1907 after an illness of one week.

While he was a student in Wabash College in 1863, he enlisted in the army and served until the closing of the war when he returned to college and finished his collegiate work them hence going to Lane Theological School at Cincinnati for his three years course study in Theology.

He began his ministerial work in 1868, Mason, being his first pastorate. He found a little church of 46 members without a church building and begun and carried on to succcessfully hold church services in the old court house. They built a new church in 1869 and in the autumn of 1879, his pastorate terminated after 11 years marking the period of the greatest growth of the church to 233 members. He left there to work in Detroit with the Calvary Presbyterian Church. For 13 years he was with the Calvary Presbyterian Church of Detroit, two years with the Presbyterian Church at Lapeer, 8 years at Caro and finally two and one-half years with the Cadillac Avenue Church in Detroit. He built churches in three of these five pastorates and oved and remodeled the Cadillac Avenue Church.

He was a kind, earnest, energetic and sympathetic man and was throughly unselfish. In passing he left his wife, Amanda and a son Percy Barlow of Detroit. Two children died during his pastorate in Mason and were laid to rest by his side in Maple Grove Cemetery. Note: There is a small monument in Section A that looks like the name Sarah on it, a daughter. Cemetery records don't show a Sarah, but do show a Milly Barlow and a Adelia Barlow in Section A Lot 212. Headstone is faded and very hard to read but these two names could very well be on it. I just couldn't tell.
