ELLINWOOD — Elva Pearl Stoppel, 86, died Feb. 2 at Ellinwood District Hospital. She was born Oct. 19, 1922, in Duchesne, Utah, the daughter of William and Pearl (Hatch) Clark. She married Edwin Stoppel on June 8, 1962, in Denver, Colo. She made her home in the Denver area until moving to the Ellinwood area last year. She was a cook. Family was Elva's number-one priority. Each grandchild had their own special piece of her heart. She loved music. No one was a stranger to Elva; whenever someone came to the house they could always count on a hug, a kiss and a great meal.

Survivors include her husband, Edwin; two sons, Michael Leroy Brewer and wife Barbara of Ellinwood and Richard Clark Brewer and wife Sandra of Castle Rock, Colo.; four daughters, Linda Beth Wood and husband Ron, Debby Ann Sheldon and husband Larry, and Rebbecca Ellen Smith and husband Donald, all of Ellinwood, and Christi Jean Maes and husband George of Denver; two sisters, Arlene Stewart of Vernal, Utah, and Delora Oaks of Naples, Utah; 19 grandchildren, Richard Brewer, Robert Brewer, LeeAnn Tullis, Megan Brewer, Marissa Brewer, Steven Adams, Stacie Griffith, Troy Wood, David Wood, Terri Rhyne, Richard Wells, David Wells, Orlie Hoover, Jeff Smith, Kelli Sena, Jennifer Wortham, Tim Maes, Brian Maes and Trevor Maes; and numerous great and great-great-grandchildren.

Viewing will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Charter Funerals, Great Bend. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Charter Funerals, with Pastor Ken Gray of Heritage Baptist Church officiant. Interment will be at the Lakin-Comanche District Cemetery, Ellinwood. Memorials are suggested to the Heritage Baptist Church.
