William Richmond "Bill" Gibson, 76, born 11 May 1862, of Waynesville, died 10 Oct 1939, at his home.

He had been in ill health for the past few years. In the passing of Mr. Gibson, Brantley County loses one of its pioneer citizens.

Mr. Gibson was predeceased by his first wife, Eliza Bennett Gibson, and his second wife, Missouri Dixon Gibson.

Survivors are his wife, Sarah Elizabeth Anderson Gibson of Waynesville; five sons, Fred W. Gibson and Clinton E. Gibson, both of Waynesville, George Wright Gibson of Remo, Pete Jones Gibson and Charles Demory Gibson, both of Athens; three daughters, Mrs. E. A. Hunger of Waynesville, Mrs. Eliza Coulter of Tampa, FL, and Mrs. Marie Anderson of Crystal River, FL.

The funeral was held at Waynesville Baptist Church on Thursday afternoon. Interment was in the old Baptist Cemetery (Waynesville Cemetery).

The service was conducted by Rev. A. M. McCool of Hoboken, a lifelong friend of the deceased
