He was born February 20, 1918 in Magna, Utah a son of Carl William and Dora Althea Hibbard. Married Virginia Irene Cannegieter on October 29, 1942, marriage later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.

He served as a distinguished pilot in the United States Army Air Corps during World War II and pursued aviation as a life-long career. During his flying career he accumulated over 30,000 flying hours, having visited almost every country on earth. He was chief pilot and aviation manager for El Paso Natural Gas Company and later Northwest Pipeline Corp. He was highly respected among his peers in the aviation industry.

Following his retirement from aviation, he worked for Murray City and was instrumental in the planning and construction of the Murray Heritage Center and the renovation of Murray City Hall. Much of his work was voluntary. He most recently invented and patented a revolutionary process for deicing aircraft involving infra-red energy which eliminates the need for chemicals.

An active member of the LDS church, he served as High Priest Group Leader, temple worker, worked in the LDS prison program and especially loved to home-teach.

He was a man of great integrity who most of all cared for and loved his family.

Survived by his wife; five children, Robert (Bonnie), Murray; James (Maxine), Riverton; Joel (Karyn), Orem; Michael (Michelle), Kearns; Jane (Larry) Bianucci, Reno, Nevada; 19 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and a sister, Alice.
