Ferrum Faculty Recognition--Dr. Hiawatha Crosslin, Professor of Health and Physical Education at Ferrum Junior College has been selected as one of the ten most successful women in the U. S. by Alpha Xi Delta Sorority. Dr. Crosslin will be honored at the sorority's annual convention in Chicago on July 15, 1968. The recognition of Dr. Crosslin and others from 47,000 eligible women will highlight the sorority's Diamond Jubilee. Dr Crosslin has been notified that the Dictionary of International Biography, 5th Edition, will include her name. The Biography contains approximately 15,000 sketches of persons of achievement in many fields, from the U. S., United Kingdom and Continental Europe. Equal prominence is given to science and the arts..
Dr Crosslin, who has already been included in six major Who's Who Editions, Including Who's Who in Leaders in Education, Who's Who in the South and the Southwest and Who's Who in American Education, received her B. A. from
Baylor University and her B. S., M. Ed., and Ed. D. from the University of Texas and has been at Ferrum since 1960.
Prior to her position at Ferrum, Dr. Crosslin had been active in the field of education at several colleges and universities as both a professor and Dean of Women.
An ardent advocate of educational opportunities for youth, Dr. Crosslin was appointed as a member of the Governor's Scholarship Program for the Commonwealth. The Commission selects young people, ready for college, to whom educational scholarships will be given.
