Mrs. Allene Hays was born in Harrisonville, MO January 29, 1920 to Clarence E. and Gladys (Barnard) Arnold. Allene lived in Harrisonville, MO until she graduated from high school, then moved to Pleasant Hill, MO and was united in marriage to Louis Edward Murphy in 1940. Allene later married Harry F. Hays Sr. April 17, 1965 in Independence, MO. Allene lived in Independence, MO most of her life, and worked for Jones Store for 25 years until she retired. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Independence, MO, and was a member of the Eastern Star Ivy Chapter #25 in Pleasant Hill, MO.
Allene was preceded in death by her parents, and husbands, Louis E. Murphy and Harry F. Hays Sr. She is survived by her two sons, Harry F. Hays Jr. and Douglas T. Hays, daughter, Linda Kay Stewart, five grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, and three great great-grandchildren, one brother, Charles L. Arnold, and one sister, Virginia Brown.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions be made to the Kansas City Hospice Organization 9221 Ward Parkway, Suite 100 Kansas City, MO 64114, or to the First Presbyterian Church of Independence 100 N. Pleasant St., Independence, MO 64050.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, February 18, 2009 from 10-11 a.m. at the D.W. Newcomer's Sons Noland Road Chapel 509 S. Noland Rd. Independence, MO 64050. Funeral services will begin at 11 a.m. Burial immediately following at Floral Hills Cemetery Kansas City, MO.
