Anna L. Dose, 96, of Plainfield Iowa, died on Sunday, October 2, 2005 at the Chautauqua Guest Home in Charles City.

Anna was born on June 4, 1909 on a farm near Bradford, Iowa, the daughter of Charles and Mary (Jordan) Bean. After graduating from the 8th grade in the Bradford School, she worked at home with family. On November 14, 1929 she was united in marriage to William Schmidt in Charles City, Iowa. The couple farmed east of Nashua and raised their three children, Milton, Shirley and Marian. William died on November 26, 1956. In 1957 Anna left the farm and moved to the Howard Vogel farm where she helped with the Vogel family. On August 22, 1960 Anna was united in marriage to Detlef C. Dose in Morrison, Illinois. The couple lived in Clinton, Iowa, until 1965 when they moved to Plainfield, Iowa. Detlef died on January 21, 1979 and Anna remained in her home in Plainfield until moving to the Chautauqua Guest Home in Charles City on July 26, 2005.

Anna was a member of the Plainfield United Methodist Church. She enjoyed gardening, canning, quilting and especially spending time with her family.

Anna is survived by her son Milton Schmidt and his wife Eleanor of Nashua; one daughter, Marion Melcher and her husband Lewis of Shell Rock; 10 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; several great great grandchildren; one sister, Geneva Allsup of Des Moines.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands, one daughter, Shirley Mundfrom; two grandchildren, six sisters, Martha Baldwin, Rose Howard, Amanda Wilkerson, Clara Barkhausen, Ruth Weinberg, and Doris Matteson; and by two brothers, Amos Richard Bean and Francis Bean.
