Ollie Griffin Crews, 86, of Hoboken died Saturday morning (Jan. 9, 2010) at her residence after an extended illness.

She was born in Brantley County to the late John and Anna Louise Mott Griffin and lived in Brantley County all of her life. Mrs. Crews was a Homemaker and a member of Mt. Calvary Baptist Church. She was a very devoted wife, she enjoyed cooking and helping her neighbors but most of all her children and her family was her life.

In addition to her parents Mrs. Crews was preceded in death by seven brothers and sisters, W.D. Griffin, Alma Harris, Raleigh Griffin, Abbie Rowell, Brantley Griffin, Omie Duncombe and Allen Griffin; one son-in-law, Irving Stephen (Stevie) Patten.

Survivors include her husband of 68 years, Charles Elden Crews, Hoboken; ten children, Carol Elaine Crews Heard (husband Charles Earl Heard), Janice Crews Shuman (husband Elbert Ray Shuman), Anna Kathryn Crews Altman (husband Ronald John Altman), Elden Larry Crews (wife Evelyn Thrift Crews), Emma Ruth Crews Lee (husband Wade Lee), John Terry Crews (wife Lera Cynthia Pittman Crews), Marilyn Crews Crawford (husband Gary Boyce Crawford), Bruce Daniel Crews (Barbara Ann Patten Crews), Thomas Ashley Crews (wife Teresa Diane Steedley Crews) and Dennis Edward Crews (wife Susan Annette Harris Crews); two sisters-in-law, Hazel Griffin, Hoboken and Pat Griffin Rutherford (husband Sobie Rutherford), Knoxville, TN.

A funeral service will be held Tuesday morning at 11 am at Mt. Calvary Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Mt. Calvary Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Monday evening from 6 – 8 pm at Mt. Calvary Baptist Church.

All former pastors are requested to serve as Honorary Pallbearers and should meet at the church by 10:40 am Tuesday for the service.
