Fern Elliott Obituary
Fern Louise Halliburton Elliott, 82, daughter of Ewing and Maude Green Halliburton, was born Nov. 23, 1921, in the Fowler community near Mountain Grove. She died April 18, 2004, at Houston House Nursing Center at Houston following a two-year illness.
She grew up and attended school in the Fowler community.
She married Lloyd H. "Bud" Elliott Feb. 4, 1945. They had four children and lived in the Mountain Grove area for many years.
Mrs. Elliott loved being a homemaker, taking care of her family's needs, cooking, sewing and tending her flower gardens, being outdoors and spending hours fishing with her husband.
In 1998, after her health failed, she moved to Houston to be near her daughter and family. She attended the Bucyrus Baptist Church as often as her health would allow.
She was preceded in death by her husband June 11, 1991; her parents; one son, Bobby in 1974; and a brother, Leland Halliburton.
Surviving are one son, Larry Elliott of South Wilmington, Ill.; two daughters, Ethel Jane Sabatino of Bourbon and Glenna Willson of Houston; one brother, Richard Elliott of Washington, Iowa; three sisters, Wilma Riley and Atha Welch of Mountain Grove and Ineta Barker of El Dorado, Kan.; a special friend, Leo Kelley; five grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter.
Services were April 22 at the Craig-Hurtt-Bradley Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Frank McCune officiating. Burial was in the Hillcrest Cemetery.
