From the July 6, 2007 Rushville Republican article celebrating it's 100th birthday in October 1940...the article with photo was about Rushville's civic leaders where Manley was on the city council...Abercrombie succeeded the late Harry J. Lucas on the latter's death this year.

From the December 3, 2006 Rushville Republican article "Remember When: Missing the good old days article by Bill Ward who was a writer for the newspaper for many years... Abercrombie Jewelers was the expensive place in town to buy frivolous things for Mom or wife. This article also had a picture of the Junior Scholastic magazine and the caption also stated Manley was the mayor of Rushville at one time too.
