John Henry Hickox, 82 (b. 19 Oct 1915), of Brunswick, died Friday (6 Mar 1998) at the Charlton Memorial Hospital in Folkston.

A native of Ware County, he had been a resident of Brunswick for the past 38 years before moving to Bayview Nursing Home in Nahunta three years ago. He retired from Coastal Chevrolet Company in 1980 and attended the First Free Will Baptist Church.

He was the son of the late Raymond Leonard "Dube" Hickox and Beulah Crews Hickox and was the widower of Mattie Lee Strickland Hickox.

Survivors include a son, Johnny R. Hickox of Brunswick; two sisters, Leila Turner of Nahunta and Pearly Griffin of Hoboken; a brother, Lonnie Hickox of Waycross; three grandchildren; three great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Graveside funeral services were held at 11 am. Monday, Mar. 9, from the High Bluff Cemetery near Hoboken with the Rev. Terry Hennecke officiating.

Pallbearers were Donnie Sloan, Randy Rozier, Danny Rentz and Jamie Rentz.

Honorary pallbearers were the staff of Bayview nursing Home in Nahunta.

Edo Miller and Sons Funeral Home of Brunswick was in charge of arrangements.
