Funeral services for Mr. Edward Eugene "Gene" Dickerson, 89, of Grand Saline are scheduled for 3 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 22, 2009, at Main Street Baptist Church with Bro. Billy Buckingham and Bro. Ronald Cantrell officiating under the direction of Bartley Funeral Home, Grand Saline. Burial will be in Woodside Cemetery, Grand Saline.

Mr. Dickerson passed away Feb. 20, 2009, in a Tyler Hospice facility. He was born March 17, 1919, in Grand Saline to Arthur and Jessie Belle Collier Dickerson.

Mr. Dickerson had spent all of his life in Grand Saline where he was a member of Main Street Baptist Church and the Pals Sunday School Class.

He served as a Staff Sergeant in the U.S. Army during WWII and was a Master Mason and a member of the Grand Saline Masonic Lodge no. 1269.

Mr. Dickerson was preceded in death by his parents; one son, David Eugene Dickerson; brother, Olen Dickerson; and two sisters, Beatrice King and Edith Edwards.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to service time at the church.
