She was a native and lifelong resident of the area that is now Brantley County. She was the widow of Everette Lloyd "Buck" Hickox and was a daughter of the late James Henry Douglas and Maude Strickland Douglas.
Survivors include three daughters, Carolyn Gunter, Judith Farr and Linda Stipe, all of Waycross; three sons, Eugene Hickox of Waycross, Bobby Hickox of Hoboken and Gary Hickox of Mobile, AL; four sisters, Dorothy Kelley, Eva Hickox, Nell Bowen, all of Hoboken, Clara Drury of Waycross; 14 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, June 10, from the Mars Hill Primitive Baptist Church near Hoboken with Elder J. L. Rowan and Elder Alvin Johnson officiating.
Interment followed in High Bluff Cemetery near Hoboken.
Pallbearers were Scott Hickox, Michael Hickox Barry Stokes, Corles Taylor, Gerald Lee and Rusty Kelley.
Music Funeral Home of Waycross was in charge of arrangements.
