Minnie Lee Riley, 90, of Southport, Fla., went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, Feb. 5, 2015. Minnie was a lifelong resident of Southport. In her lifetime, Minnie had various occupations. She was a welder at the Wainwright Shipyard, where she helped build one of the U.S. Navy's Liberty Ships, the Josephine Shaw Lowell, used during WWII. Other occupations include professional seamstress, seafood industry worker, housekeeper, private duty nursing, carpentry and many other trades. Minnie's most recent occupation was a caregiver. There was no job too big for her. In her spare time, she loved to travel, fish, camp and just be outdoors. Minnie lived her life to the fullest by worshiping her savior, Jesus Christ, and spending quality time with her family and friends.
She was welcomed home by her parents, Aden and Lena Richardson; her husband and love of her life for 42 years, Lloyd Riley; brother, Ellera Richardson; and daughter-in-law, Pamela Whitfield Riley.Left to cherish her memory are her children: Charles E. Riley (Jeanette) of Bayou George, Fla.; Dianna Riley Oglesby (Charles B.) of Dothan, Ala.; Darriel Riley (Nancy) of Fountain, Fla.; and daughter, Sandra Riley Stoudt (William) of Lynn Haven, Fla.; four brothers: A.J. Richardson (Boncile), Fred Richardson (Wilma), Maxwell Richardson and Powell Nixon Richardson, all of Southport, Fla.; one sister: Carolyn Richardson Duke of Orlando, Fla.; 15 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and a multitude of nieces and nephews.The family will receive friends from 1:30-3 p.m., Sunday, Feb. 8, 2015 at First Assembly of God Church of Southport. Funeral services will follow at 3 p.m., with the Rev. Nixon Miller and the Rev. Roger Dale Hagan officiating. Interment to follow in Southport Memorial Gardens.
