Georgia Griffin, 76, of Jacksonville died Thursday evening (June 30, 2016) at Jacksonville Nursing and Rehab after an extended illness. She was born in Hoboken to the late Darling L. Griffin and Kate Jacobs Griffin. She worked on the farm there until the family moved to Waycross in 1957. In 1980 she moved to Jacksonville where she was a resident of Jacksonville Nursing and Rehab. Miss Griffin loved to watch the soap operas and loved Elvis Pressley.


In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by four brothers, Sammy Griffin, D.B. Griffin, Charles Griffin, and Big Jim Bryant Griffin; four sisters, Rena Mae Hickox, Mary Slavic, Lilly Crews, and Effie Taylor.


Survivors include two nephews, Charles W. Godwin and his wife Emily of Waycross, George David Young and his wife Rachel of Waycross; one niece, Kelly Murray of Waycross; special cousin, Linda Hickox of Hoboken; several other relatives.


A memorial service will be held at a later date.
