FINAL RITES HELD FOR JOHN T LEE AT SANFORD
Funeral services have been held at the Sanford Baptist church for John T. Lee, 81, who died at his home in Sanford after a lengthy illness. The Rev. B. Hilburn, pastor of the Sanford Baptisht church, conducted last rites, assisted by the Rev. A. Halcomb of Hattiesburg, Interment was made in the Providence cemetery near Hattiesburg.

Mr. Lee, a third cousin to General Robert E. Lee, was one of Covington county's most respected citizens. A pioneer resident of Sanford, he was a devoted member of the Sanford Baptist church, and a keen political observer, who took an interested part in politics until the time of his death.

Born at old Monroe, Perry county, on July 1st, 1857, Mr. Lee was married to Miss Mary Sumrall of Monroe on Dec. 16, 1880. Seven children were born to this union, six of whom survive.

Mr. Lee is survived by his wife, five daughters: Mrs. D. A. Shill, Natalbany, La.; Mrs. W. P. Sowell, Slaughter, La.; Mrs. Luther Watts, Hattiesburg; Miss Nora Lee, Sanford, Miss Bessie Lee, Jackson; one son, Henry Lee, Sanford: nine grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
