Funeral services for Marvin Neil Weaver, 92, of Bastrop will be held at 2:00 PM, Monday, January 28, 2013 at Brown-Holley Funeral Home, Rayville, LA with Rev. Ezra Cook officiating. Interment will follow in New Salem Cemetery, Girard, LA.
Marvin was born January 20, 1921 in North Little Rock, AR and passed away Sunday, January 27, 2013 in Monroe, LA.
Mr. Weaver was employed 39 years at the International Paper Mill. He was a Marine veteran serving during World War II. He served from October 23, 1943 to June 17, 1945, at the following New Caledonia; British Soloman Islands; New Guinea; New Britain Islands; Palau Islands; Ryukyu Islands. He participated in action against enemy Japanese forces at; Peleliu Island, Palau Islands; Cape Gloucester, New Britain Island; Okinawa Shima, Ryukyu Islands. He was issued the USMC Honorable Discharge Button and Honorable Service Lapel; Button at 2nd Cas. Co. MB., NAD., New Orleans, LA on Nov. 30, 1945. He also received the Purple Heart.
Mr. Marvin was preceded in death by his parents, Will and Elsie Weaver; his twin sister, Martha Johnson and sister, Dovie Pruitt; and his brothers, Lee Weaver and Ed Weaver.
Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Betty Weaver of Bastrop, LA; children, Claudia Hendrix and husband, Charles of Oak Ridge, LA, Lynda Livingston and husband, Cody of Downsville, LA, Steve Weaver of Houston, TX, and Beverly Brown and husband, Bide of Tallulah, LA; grandchildren, Catherine Price and husband, Chris, Carrie Allen and husband, Bradley, Brandon Franks and wife, Chelsea, Brian Franks, Hunter Franks, Tex Franks, and Zachery Livingston; great grandchildren, C.J. Price, Lilly Franks, Sean Franks, and Harlie Franks; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers are the deacons of Bastrop First Assembly of God, Johnny McVoy, Monty Shockey, Ricky Parrot, Ronnie Harrison, and friends, Gralan Nugent, and Dale Riles.
Honorary pallbearer will be George Bonnett.
Visitation will be 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM, Monday at Brown-Holley Funeral Home, Rayville, LA.
