Mrs Catherine Balfour Smith 53 died in Glenwood Hospital in West Monroe early today after a long illness. Funeral services will be held at 10 a m Friday at First Baptist Baptist Church here with Dr H R Herrington officiating. Burial will be in New Salem Cemetery at Girard under direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home of Rayville. Mrs Smith was a former em­ployee of the Richland Parish Library. She was a member of the DAR and the First Baptist Church. Survivors include her husband, Carl Smith of Rayville; four daughters, Mrs Gordon Davis, Mrs Ben F Pipes and Mrs Guy C Williamson, all of Rayville and Mrs David Blackwell of Laurinburg. N. C,; one son, Carl James Smith of Columbus, Columbus, Ga ; two sisters, Mrs John V. Jack of Baton Rouge and Mrs J W Davis of Jennings; two brothers, Hugh R Balfour of West Monroe and James T. Balfour of Monroe; and 11 grandchildren.
