She is survived by three sons, Claude A. Burton and his wife, Betty, James W. Burton and his wife, Virginia, Robert S. Burton and his wife, Darlene; son-in-law, Charles Minor; 12 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, four great-great-grandchildren; brother, Ray S. Slaughter; sister-in-law, Edith McGhee; numerous nieces, nephews and other friends.
She retired from the G.C. Murphy Company after 30 years of service. She was also an active member of the Antioch Baptist Church.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, March 16, 2008 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. and Monday, March 17, 2008 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the Nelsen Funeral Home, 4650 S. Laburnum Ave., where a chapel service will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, March 18, 2008. Interment to follow in Signal Hill. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Antioch Baptist Church Building Fund, P.O. Box 14, Sandston, Va. 23150.
