John Wilkerson Mallory, 3rd child of Robert Samuel and Martha A. "Wilkinson" Mallory was born on a farm in Perry county, IN. In 1875 the Mallory family left IN and settled on a fram in Moultrie county, IL where they lived until 1883. At this time they joined other families who were traveling west to a new land. On this trip John met Fannie Rebecca Parks who was later to become his wife. The Parks were traveling in the same wagon train with the Mallory family. They went to Edgar, NE and in 1885 they came to Thomas county KS and settled on homesteads in Summers township, 2 miles apart. When John was 21 he filed for a homestead southwest of Levant in Kingery township the northwest 1/4 of 6-9-35.
On March 30, 1891 John and Fannie were married at the Howard home near Mingo, KS with Justice of the Peace, Fred Howard, officiating. Fannie was the 3rd child of Wm and Zopher Ann "Blanchard" Parks.

To this union was born 11 children: Claude Curtiss, Ernest Raymond, Edna Fern (Millard)Calkins, Lela Ethel born Dec 25, 1896 and died of scarlet fever on April 25, 1919, Alta Evelyn (Wylie) Beal, Grace Irene (Robert Guy)Ramey, Lois Mae (Dale)Hawk Sr., Mabel Ann (Graham) Anderson, John Evan, Clarence Albert, and Velma Violet (Earl) Keilwitz.
