Jerry Hultgren of Fresno passed away in Fresno.

Hultgren was born in Fresno, Ca., to Richard and Alma Hultgren.

After graduating from Clovis High School, he attended Stanford University, before finishing his jurist doctorate at Glendale Law School, in Southern California.

In addition to practicing law, Hultgren also owned four restaurants and bred and owned race horses in the Pasadena area for about five years. He also worked as a transport pilot for five years.

Hultgren moved back to the Fresno area in 1994, where he met his wife, Julie Ellis. Jerry and Julie married on June 12, 1994. Hultgren continued to practice law in the Fresno area until two years ago when he went back to school to pursue a master's degree in rehabilitation counseling at California State University, Fresno. In 2008, Hultgren began working as an alcohol and drug addiction counselor at Herndon Recovery Center.

Hultgren was a skilled attorney having practiced law for more than 20 years. He was also an excellent cook after owning a French restaurant, Irish Pub and a wine bar. Hultgren had a quick wit, keen intellect and a sharp sense of humor. You always knew when he was around because his deep-voiced chuckle could fill a room.

Hultgren's family and friends know that he is absent from the body but present with the Lord.

Hultgren was preceded in death by his, father, Richard Hultgren, who died in 2007.

He is survived by his wife, Julie Hultgren of Fresno; his mother, Alma Hultgren of Fresno; his sister, Lela Sanchez of Fresno; his nephew, Niko Sanchez and his wife Renee and their children, Savannah and Jace; his niece Aree Sanchez, and Dale Daughtorey and their daughter Adriana Sanchez.

A Funeral Service for Jerry Hultgren will he held at Clovis Funeral Chapel, on Saturday, February 21, 2009, at 11:00 a.m. A private reception and burial will be held later.
