Ruth A. Crick Larson, 96, of 38 Hazeltine Ave., Jamestown, went to be with the Lord Saturday (May 31, 2008) in the home of her daughter and surrounded by family.
A lifelong area resident, she was born in Busti, the daughter of William W. and Ada Crossley Crick.
Ruth was a 1931 graduate of Jamestown High School and a 1934 graduate of Deaconess Hospital School of Nursing.
Her 34 year nursing career included employment at the former Jamestown General Hospital, 28 years of private duty nursing which included caring for Mrs. James Ward Packard for 11 years, industrial nursing at Jamestown Metal Corp., and five years at the Medical Bureau.
Ruth was a member of Kidder Memorial United Methodist Church since 1927, serving in many capacities, and was laity honoree in 1990. She was a member of the Diana Lodge IOV, Chautauqua County Graduate Nurses, the District #1 NYS Nurses Association, the Marvin House, and a life member of Deaconess Hospital Alumnae. Ruth volunteered for the Christmas Friendship Fund, St. Susan's Center, and the former Manor Oak Nursing Home.
She enjoyed flower gardening, time with friends and family, and helping others. She will be remembered for her warm smile and caring demeanor.Surviving are her daughter, Patricia Allenson and son-in-law, James Fincher, of Busti; two grandchildren, Kimberly (Mike) Barber, of Jamestown and Erik (Margie) Fincher, of Russell, Pa.; five great-grandchildren: Aubin and Coleson Barber, both of Jamestown, and Alexander, Zachary, and Logan Fincher, all of Russell; a brother, Frank (Mary) Crick of Jamestown; and a sister-in-law, Louise Crick, of Jamestown.
She was preceded in death by her husband, George E. Larson, whom she married July 1, 1938, and who died June 7, 2000; and three brothers: Ralph, Luther, and Clyde Crick.
