Furniture store owner dies

Harold W. Cruit, 82, of 90 W. Second St., died Tuesday at 4:40 p.m. in Medical Center Hospital after a two and one-half month illness.
For more than 50 years he operated the H. W. Cruit Furniture store at Main and Mulberry streets and was still operating the Furniture Warehouse, 56-60 W. Water St. at the time of his death.
His funeral is set for 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Ware Funeral Home with burial to follow in Grandview Cemetery. Calling hours are after 5 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. A Masonic Commandery service will be held Friday evening.
He was born Dec. 15, 1897, to William and Mary Williamson Cruit in Carroll. He was married July 7, 1923, to the former Mary D. Clough, who survives.
Also surviving are four sisters, Mrs. Lawrence (Frances) Collier of Westerville; Mrs. William (Florence) Cunningham of Mt. Vernon, N.Y.; Mrs. Mary Alice McDermott of Minneapolis, Minn.; and Mrs. Arthur (Jessie) Mann of Bellaire, Mich.
He was a veteran of World War I, a life member of American Legion Post 62, and a member of Elks Lodge 52, Rotary, Ross County Historical Society, Phi Delta Theta fraternity, and all local Masonic lodges, the Chillicothe Commandery 8, Aladdin Temple Shrine of Columbus and Symposiarchs.
