SWEET, ALBERT H., 81, of Seminole, died Sunday (Oct. 12, 2003) at Bay Pines VA Medical Center. Born in Bellows Falls, Vt., he came here in 1986 from Pinehurst, Mass. He was a graduate of the Thayer School of Engineering at Dartmouth College, and was a registered professional engineer in Georgia and Massachusetts. An Army Air Forces veteran of World War II, he also served in the Korean War and Vietnam War and retired as an Air Force major after 26 years. He flew bombers in all three wars. He received the Distinguished Flying Cross, the Philippines Liberation Ribbon, Army Commendation Medal, Asian-Pacific Campaign Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Air Medal with 16 Oak Leaf Clusters, and the Air Force Commendation Medal with Oak Leaf Cluster. He was a member of Oakhurst United Methodist Church, Seminole, Order of the Eastern Star, Chapter 234, Pinellas Park, Acacia High 12 Club of Seminole, the Vermont Club of the Suncoast of Florida, the Jolly Rodgers of the 90th Bomb Squadron and the Retired Officers Club, Clearwater. Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Wilda M.; a son, Thomas A., Boise, Idaho; two daughters, Marjorie E. Dinsmoor, Pinellas Park, and Juanita M. Sweet, Centerville, Mass.; a sister, Elizabeth "Betty" Bowley, Seminole; seven grandchildren; and a great-granddaughter. Lewis W. Mohn Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Seminole.
