Professional Football Player. He was born Bradley Alan Van Pelt in Owosso, Michigan. He played at the linebacker position for fourteen seasons (1973 to 1986) in the National Football League with the New York Giants, Los Angeles Raiders and Cleveland Browns. His notable career highlights include five-time All-Pro status (1976 to 1980) and five-time Pro Bowl selection. While with the Giants, Van Pelt along with Brian Kelley and future Hall of Fame players Harry Carson and Lawrence Taylor made-up one of the most formidable linebacking cores in the NFL during the early-1980s. He excelled at basketball and baseball during his collegiate years at Michigan State University and achieved All-American recognition two-times He was winner of the Maxwell Award as the Nation's Best Player in 1972. He was chosen by the Giants in the 2nd round of the 1972 NFL Draft and appeared in 184 regular season games with 20 career interceptions for 135 yards. He was inducted into the Michigan State University Athletics Hall of Fame in 2000 and the College Football Hall of Fame in 2001. His son Bradlee Van Pelt played at the quarterback position in the NFL.
