Harvey Richard Varnell, 57, of Ball, La., died at 4:10 a.m. today, August 30, 1950. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Addie W. Varnell of Ball, one daughter, Mrs. J. S. Aimsworth [sic Ainsworth] of Tullos, five brothers, Frank, Homer, Doc and Jimmy Varnell, all of Columbia and Willian [sic William] of Pineville, four sisters, Mrs. Gussie McPherson of Columbia, Mrs. Tennie Powell of Columbia, Mrs. Bell Lyris of Chicago and Mrs. Maggie Gerrod [sic Girod] of Lake Providence, R. I., his parents, Mr. and Mrs. S. A. Varnell, of Columbia, and two grandchildren.
The remains will be at the Hixson Bros. Funeral home until 1:30 p.m. Thursday. The funeral service will be held at 3:30 p.m. in the Methodist church near Columbia. Interment will be in the Columbia cemetery under the direction of Hixson Bros. Funeral home.
