Jerry Wayne Lingafelter, 73, of Jackson, formerly of Grayville, Ill., died Monday, Feb. 16, 2009, at his home, after a long battle with leukemia.
He was born March 30, 1935, in Crawford County, Ill., son of Clyde and C. Vera Downy Lingafelter. He and Betty J. Switzer were married Jan. 30, 1960.
Lingafelter was a retired contract specialist with the U.S. Department of Energy.
He served in the U.S. Army.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Greg Lingafelter of Jackson; a daughter, Karen Lingafelter of Memphis, Tenn.; two brothers, Rick Lingafelter of Minooka, Ill., Jack Lingafelter; three sisters, Elizabeth Wood of Grayville, Carolyn Turner of West Frankfort, Ill., and Patricia Elwell of Claremore, Okla.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two daughters and four brothers.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Cook Funeral Chapel in Grayville.
The funeral is at 10 a.m. Thursday at the chapel. Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery in Grayville with military rites to be conducted.
