Frances Nelson Spann, 85 of Cantonment, FL., passed away Saturday, February 14, 2009 in Pensacola. She was born in Burnside, Mississippi on June 22, 1923. Frances moved here in 1945 from Century, FL. She was a secretary for 42 years with Pine Forest Estates Baptist Church and Granada Baptist Church of which she was a member. Frances was involved with the Alger-Sullivan Historical Society and PJC swimming classes. She was preceded in death by her mother and father, Sadie Brasfield Nelson and Lawrence Franklin Nelson, Sisters; Nellsone Jones and Benton Pettit. Frances is survived by her husband Edward Manning Spann. Four sons Julius Spann, Lauritz Spann and his wife Noy, Frank Spann and his wife Denise and Joe Spann and his wife Connie. One daughter; Ferryn Twarkins and her husband Tom. One sister Ruth McNeil of Kissimmee, FL. Nine grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews and cousins.
