Mr. Murphy owned and operated, with his wife, Better Hearing Centers in Port Huron since 1984.
He enjoyed traveling, especially to Mexico, sailing and motorcycles.
He served his country honorably in the US Navy.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara; two sons, Michael Murphy and Donald Murphy and his children, Meghan and Joshua; two daughters, Laura Taylor and her children, Shawn, Danny, Jesse and Jimmy and Kelly Warzocha and her children, Brian, Mathew and Anthony; two step-sons, Kenneth Serio and Sue Mueller and Scott (Elizabeth) Serio; a step-daughter, Nancy (Gerry) Malta and her children, Mario and Isabella; a sister, Nan (Chuck) Coyle and a brother, Thomas Murphy; an "adopted son", Michael Harder and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Sunday from 2-5 and 7-9 p.m. in the Pollock-Randall Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, February 16, 2009 in the Pollock-Randall Funeral Home.
Military honors will be conducted under the auspices of the St. Clair County Allied Veterans.
Burial will be in Woodland Cemetery, Port Huron Township.
Memorial contributions may be made to People's Clinic or Blue Water Humane Society.
