HAYWOOD, Mr. Richard Lee - Age 74, passed away Monday, February 9, 2009 at his residence. Family hour 10:30AM Monday, February 16, 2009 from the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., with funeral service commencing immediately at 11AM, Min. James Hodo officiating. Interment Gracelawn Community Cemetery, G-5710 N. Saginaw St. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the funeral home 10:30AM Monday. Mr. Haywood will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, and may be viewed from 10AM-8PM Sunday.

Mr. Richard Lee "R.L." Haywood, Jr. was born June 1, 1934 in Inverness, Mississippi, the son of Richard L. Haywood, Sr. and Azlee Whips. "R.L." was a longtime resident of Flint. He was retired from Buick a Division of General Motors. "R.L." was a very compassionate person he loved his family and friends. He was a people person. "R.L." hobbies included fishing, barbecuing and playing cards.

Mr. Richard Lee "R.L." Haywood leaves to cherish his memory: children, JoAnn Arterberry, Christie Smith both of Flint and Anthony (Angalean) Taylor of Pasadena, CA; 7 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; godchildren, Tracey Orr and Roger Stallings; 2 sisters, Rita and Minnie Haywood both of Flint; brother-in-law, Johnny Lee Williams; a host of other relatives and friends including, special friends, John "Twist" Griffin, Gloria Smith, Robert Roland, Betty Boone, Erma Smith, Dorothy Banister, Irene Walker, Bill Brown, Robert "Bobby" Thomas, Jerome Burnett and Delores Barnwell.

Mr. Haywood was preceded in death by his wife, Nina Jean Haywood; parents; stepmother, Mary Hollins; brother and sister, Eddie Haywood and Essie B. Langston, aunts and uncles, Elbert and Rosie Haywood, Sammy and Mary Haywood and Doella Releford; mother-in-law, Frankie Henry Anderson; sister and brothers-in-law, Gussie Holmes, Freddie and Odean Holmes; nephew, Leroy Langston, special friend, Hattie Horton and best friend, Sylvester V. Thomas.

The family would like to express special thanks to Hurley Medical Center ICU and Hospice nurses, Linda and Tina.
