Graveside services for James W. Mayer, 68, of Tyler, are scheduled for 2 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 17, 2009, at Tyler Memorial Park with Mike Baker officiating under the direction of Lloyd James Funeral Home.

Mr. Mayer passed away on Friday, Feb. 13, 2009, at a local hospital.

He was born on Dec. 13, 1940, in Brownsville to the late Monroe Lee and Eula Mae Scogins Mayer. He was employed by Mr. Appliance Repair, a member of West Erwin Church of Christ and had lived in the Tyler area for 40 years. He served in the U.S. Air Force.

He is survived by his wife, Priscilla Mayer of Tyler; son, John William Mayer and wife Kim and grandsons, Kenneth Allen and Stephen Alexander Mayer, all of Grand Prairie; brothers, Travis and Gordon Mayer, both of Cuero; sisters, Carol Mallory of Tomball, and Eula Wobig of Cuero.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Honorary pallbearers are J. Spell, Doug Mullings, Ed Hunt, Don Baker, Fred Wilson, Glynn Starnes and Gerald Boykin.
