RICHFIELD - Tony "Jack" Kirk, 90, died Saturday, Feb. 14, 2009, at the Tucker Hospice House of Kannapolis.

Mr. Kirk was born March 4, 1918, in Rowan County, the son of the late Challie Adam and Sadie Basinger Kirk.

Mr. Kirk was educated in the Rowan County Schools and a veteran of World War II serving in the US Army. He had retired in 1980 from ALCOA.

Mr. Kirk was a member of Luther's Lutheran Church, a former member of the church council and the cemetery committee.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death, by son, Tony Dale Kirk, who passed away on Sept. 15, 2005.

Survivors include his wife, Naomi Kesler Kirk, married April 12, 1946; sons, Darrell "Pete" Kirk and wife Barbara of Salisbury, Dean Kirk and wife Amy of Richfield; daughter-in-law, Judy Russell Kirk of Salisbury; brothers, Bob Kirk of Richfield and Claude Kirk of Salisbury; sister, Gaynell Troutman of Richfield; four grandchildren, Todd Kirk, Clay Kirk, Kayle Kirk and Taylor Kirk; three great-grandchildren, Senora Kirk, Wyatt Kirk and Cynthia Kirk; three step-grandchildren; and six step-great- grandchildren.

Visitation: 6:30-8 p.m. Tuesday at Powles Funeral Home. Service and Burial: 2 p.m. Wednesday at Luther's Lutheran Church, conducted by Rev. Carol Yeager, Pastor. Mr. Kirk will lie in state in the church 30 minutes prior to the funeral. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
