BALCER--Former Columbus resident dies
Mrs. Nick Balcer, 83, former Columbus resident, died suddenly May 10 at her home in Spring Grove, Ill. She had been in failing health only briefly.
Funeral services were held at St. Hedwig church in Chicago, Ill., with burial in St. Adelbert cemetery there.
Nee Mary Malek, she was born Sept. 6, 1885 to Jacob and Frances Wichlacz Malek in Tarnov.
In 1901, she was married to Joseph S. Zoucha in Tarnov. They made their home on a farm seven miles southeast of Fullerton, where Mr. Zoucha died in 1917. In October of 1919, she was married to Nick Balcer. They moved to Minnesota and then to Columbus, where they resided for several years.
She is survived by Mr. Balcer; eight children, Mrs. Alex (Rose) Lesiak of Fullerton, Mrs. Joe (Barbara) Balcer of Perham, Minn., Tarecesia Bober, Evelyn Balcer, Frank and Clifford Balcer, and Harry Zoucha, all of Chicago, Stanley Zoucha of Antigo, Wis.; 24 grandchildren and 43 great-grandchildren.
Also two sisters and two brothers, Max Malek of the state of Washington, and Stanley Malek, Mrs. Leo Jarecki and Mrs. Louis Novak, all of Fullerton.
She was preceded in death by one daughter; three grandchildren and one great-grandchild; her parents and six sisters.
