JOHN S. MARKLE

John S. Markle, 71, of 1054 Baltimore Street, was pronounced dead on arrival at the Hanover General Hospital last evening after being stricken at his place of employment, Snyder Sales and Service, 1060 Baltimore Street. Dr. Mark L. Redding Jr., deputy coroner, attributed death to a coronary occlusion occurring about 5:30 p.m.
Mr. Markle was the husband of Mrs. Annie Grote Markle and a son of the late Edward and Charlotte Sponseller Markle.
He had retired from farming in 1946. He was a member of the United Church of Christ congregation of St. Paul's (Dubs') Union Church.
Surviving besides his wife are five children, Mrs. Floyd Werner, Hampstead, Md.; Mrs. Wilford Walker and Henry E. Markle, Glenville; Burnell G. Markle, Hanover R.D. 3, and Mrs. Glenn Wolff, Hanover R.D. 2; 12 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; two brothers and a sister, George Markle, Pleasant Hill; Ralph Markle, Spring Grove R.D., and Mrs. Irvin Stegner, 1058 Baltimore Street.
Funeral services will be held Thursday at 10:30 a.m. at the Bucher Funeral Home, Frederick Street. The Rev. Harvey M. Light, his pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in Dubs' Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home tomorrow evening.
