Mary is the daughter of Martin Stabbal (1811-1892) and Sophia Beckstine (1819-1904), who came from Germany around 1845. Mary married Adam Filker (1844-1920) and they had at least seven children: George, Lucy, William, Anna, Johnson, Frank, and Maude. Adam and Mary raised their children in the Amherst area.
