He was born on February 2, 1953, in Dublin, Texas, to Clyde William and Grace Evelyn (Westmoreland) Maikell.
He married Glenda Neil Igo on November 19, 1983, in Austin. He attended Central Texas Junior College in Killeen, was a member of the First Baptist Church of Round Rock, and was employed by Maxell Chrysler in Taylor as an automotive technician.
Mr. Maikell loved going to Colorado almost every summer, riding steam trains, NASCAR, family reunions and football (especially high school football playoff games). He was a talented and honest auto mechanic who enjoyed all aspects of a vehicle, from the look to the performance. Above all, he valued family and friends. He was faithful about keeping in touch with friends and members of his extended family. It was a great blow to him when his brother0in-law and best friend Larry Igo and his family were killed in the Jarrell tornado.
He is survived by his wife, Glenda Maikell of Round Rock; daughter, Kelli Elizabeth Maikell, and son Wesley Glenn Maikell, both of Round Rock; parents, Clyde William and Grace Evelyn Westmoreland Maikell of Dublin, Texas; sister-in-law, Linda Cobb and husband Lynn of Santa Fe, New Mexico; father-in-law, Louis Igo and wife Mildred of Georgetown; and niece Lanae Cobb of Sweden.
