Hershal R. Brooks, 57, of Talco, died Thursday, Dec 8, 1994, in Titus County Hospital in Mount Pleasant.
Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. Sunday Dec 11, in Cuthand Methodist Church with the Rev. Alvin Blalock, Rev. Bob Bush and Mr. John David Wright officiating. Burial will be in Cuthand Cemetery under the direction of Wood Funeral Home of Bogata.
Mr. Brooks was born Aug 9, 1937, in Red River County, the son of Marvin and Fannin Smith Brooks. He married the former Velma Johnson May 9, 1959, in Clarksville.
He is survived by his wife, Velma Brooks of Talco; and these children, Melissa and Ricky Roach of Bogata, Melinda and Ricky Rector of Talco, Stephen and Daphne Brooks of Talco, Michael Brooks and Lisa Dyess of Talco, and Darryl and Sonia Miller of Sulphur, La; three grandchildren, Dustin, Robert and Emily Rector, all of Talco; two sisters, Mrs. Ruie Forsythe and Mrs. Barbara Crouse of Mount Vernon.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Doyle Brooks, and a very special daughter-in-law, Marie Brooks.
Active pallbearers will be Danny Belcher, Ronnie Forsythe, Tony Johnson, Danny Shirley, Jimmy Forsythe and Kenneth Southerland.
