Born June 5, 1919, in Lewis, the daughter of Herbert R.
and Marie C. Travis Smith. She graduated from North High School, Wichita. A resident of Liberal, she was a secretary and bookkeeper for several years. She and her husband operated service stations and convenience stores in Garden City and in Liberal. They moved to Liberal in 1952.
She was a member of the Happy Steppers and Liberal Senior Citizens.
In 1938, she married Harry Zehring in Wichita. In 1948, she married Carl B. Rodgers. He died in 1957. On Aug. 1, 1959, she married Ernest W. Gordon in Liberal. He survives.
Other survivors include: two daughters, Kay Witzke, Liberal, and Judy Sutherland, Meade; threestepchildren, Robert Rodgers, Byron, Ga., Carl Rodgers, Wichita, and Shirley Kays, California; a sister, Louise Houser, Wichita; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; and two step-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a stepson, Dannie Gordon.
